FAQS

• What is it like working with you?

During my sessions I love to give my clients prompts, not poses. What does that mean? It means I will give you an action - that requires movement - instead of a static pose (stand here, look that way, etc.). And I will probably demonstrate the prompt for you, usually in a ridiculous fashion, so you understand what I'm talking about.

There may be times where I'm not saying anything, that's because I'm liking what you're doing! Don't over think it! Just keep doing what you're doing, it's great!

I love in-between moments as much as intentional ones so you will see me taking pictures of you while you walk to a new location, while you're just talking to your loved one, or smoothing out wrinkles on your dress.

• Do you deliver all of our photos?

YES! ...and no haha. I don't include the images that are blurry, unflattering (we all make funny faces sometimes!), the ones where you're mid-blink or saying something, or when there are multiple images of the same moment.

While there is no rule on how many images I deliver, the average seems to work out to about 50 images per hour. Which means weddings receive about 400-800 images, depending on the hours of coverage.

Engagement, Family and Boudoir sessions will receive approximately 40-50 images from their session.

• What are your travel costs?

I keep my travel expenses to a minimum - no fancy hotels or AirBnB's for this gal. I won't be in my room to enjoy them anyway, I'll be busy hanging out with you!

For any wedding located in Fernie, Cranbrook or Kimberley there will be zero travel expenses. For all other weddings and sessions outside this area, there will be minimal travel expenses that will be added to your quote when you inquire with me. That way you don't have to worry about me or my travel at all! I'll take care of all of it! Easy peasy!

• Can I bring my dog?

Yes please!! The answer has always, and will always, be YES!

Cats, lizards, birds, snakes, and anything other than spiders are welcome! I might even be open to a spider as long you guarantee it won't touch me!

• Do you backup your images?

YES! The cameras I use have two card slots, which means that each picture is saved on two different storage cards when it's taken. That way if a card corrupts (it doesn't happen often, but it CAN happen!) there is another copy sitting there ready for me :)

I also immediately back up all images to two different sources right after I get home from your wedding or session. That means there are always 4 copies, all on different cards or drives at all times before your images are delivered to you.

After I deliver your images I archive them and keep two copies for the rest of my lifetime! This isn't something many photographers offer but I know how it feels to lose important images. All of the digital images of my brother and I from about 2000 to 2004 were lost due to a hard drive crash and I'm not sure if my Mom will ever forgive herself for not having a backup. Now, I don't do this so you can be careless with your images, data storage something we all have to be accountable for, but I refuse to delete images from a session I've shot for a client.

Hard drives fail as well! It is a photographers responsibility to ensure there are multiple on multiple copies of images ESPECIALLY ones from events that cannot be reproduced (like a wedding)! Please ask any photographer you might hire about their backup process.

• Do we receive non-watermarked images as well as the printing rights and copyright to our images?

YES! I don't watermark any of my images. And that's why I'm going to ask if you'd please tag me in the caption when you post your images on social media. I rely heavily on referrals and word of mouth, which mostly comes from clients sharing my work! It really means the world to me when clients tag me!

And yes, the printing rights of the images is transferred to you upon delivery of your gallery. That means that you are able to save and print these images as many times as you'd like.

I will ask this, however, PLEASE, please, please pleasseeee, don't print your pictures at Walmart. You invested in amazing, professional images and Walmart prints do photos a huge disservice. I would be more than happy to assist you in printing your images or even creating a beautiful photo album that can be treasured for generations!

• I'm new at this whole wedding thing... I think I might need some help!

I don't blame you! I needed help when I was planning my own wedding in 2017! Most brides I work with haven't planned a wedding before! While I'm not a wedding planner, I can absolutely chat with you about how logistics can help or hinder the overall experience at your wedding as well as how timelines can be best planned to facilitate the most seamless photo experience as well!

I am here for you to bounce ideas off of, come to me with crazy ideas to see if they will work, and give you suggestions of ways that you can make your wedding day better! I've been to a lot of weddings at this point and there are lots of little tips and tricks I've collected along the way that could help you make your day even smoother and more catered to you!

• Okay, but I/we are super awkward in front of the camera...

I don't think I have photographed a single person who hasn't said something along these lines. So trust me, you're not alone! But also trust me when I tell you that after the first 20 minutes or so, once people have gotten all the silly giggles out, they stop noticing the camera as much, they feel more focused on goofing around with their boo than the camera!! So just trust the process and come to the shoot open-minded, it's going to be a great time!

• When will we receive our images?

Weddings will be delivered between 8-10 weeks of your wedding date. BUT! I tide you over with a sneak peek within a few days so social media and your relatives that couldn't make it can get a taste of what your beautiful day looked like!

All other sessions will be delivered within 3-4 weeks of the session date.

• Okay, I'm ready to book you for my session. What is involved? Is there a deposit?

Woop woop!!! Let's do this dang thing!!

After we talk about all the logistics through whatever type of communication works best for you (email, Skype, Facetime, Zoom, phone call, or meeting in person) I will send over a contract that lays out ALL the details of your session.

Some people find contracts scary, but I think they're great! They explain in full detail what you can expect from me, your photographer. Here you can ask any questions you might have about what's outlined in the contract. If you understand everything and feel comfortable with the details we will move ahead and make it official!

Upon booking, I require a 25% reservation retainer of the session cost to reserve your spot that will be applied to the total cost of your collection.

• What if you get sick on our wedding day and can't be there to photograph it?

Great question! I had this same question for my photographer before I hired him to photograph our wedding!

It's crazy, but since having my tonsils removed back in 2011 (too much information? Sorry!), I can count on one hand the number of times I've gotten sick. It was like a magic pill that keeps me healthy and happy!

BUT! If the unthinkable does happen I make it my personal duty to find you an amazing replacement that provides similar services to mine. You will have enough to worry about, I'm here to make sure everything goes smoothly.

I'm in several professional photography guilds and groups with 1000's of professional wedding photographers. There is no question that I would be able to help find you an amazing replacement. It hasn't happened yet and I don't anticipate it happening in the future, but it's good to be prepared just in case!

Plus, did you know that if you take some oil of oregano as soon as you feel a tickle in your throat it greatly reduces your chances of getting sick?! I didn't believe it when I first heard of it but I swear by it now!!! It's saved me a bunch of times where I almost got sick! I dare you to try it next time! But be warned, it's verrryyyyyy strong! Seasoned vets take 6 drops and swirl it around the back of their throats to get maximum effects.
